The race events did not just start on Saturday morning before the race. Our race experience started on Thursday. Thursday morning, Caroline (with Fordham), Clary (with Ashley), and I (with Harris and Jackson) headed to the Gaillard Auditorium to pick up our race packets. What an ordeal!! All 45,000 registered racers were supposed to pick up their packets there on Thursday or Friday. We all had our strollers, so getting through the whole process was like an obstical course: get your number here, pick up your Chip there, get your t-shirt and info bag somewhere else... and none of these places were stroller-friendly.
There was an Expo at the Galliard, as well, with free food and beer, clothes and shoes for sale, free massages, etc., so of course we strolled through. There were great deals on running clothes, so we all shopped and came out with some great buys... the best being for Clary: $85.00 running shoes for less than $40.00!!
On Friday, Caroline and Fordham came to spend the night so that Jason could keep Fordham the next morning. Dad was here, too, and we ordered Mondo's take-out for dinner... nothing better than a yummy pasta dinner the night before a big event!! It was an early night in anticipation of our early morning...
