Short Update

We are here. I promise.

This fall has come upon us quickly, and it seems to be flying by. With school and work starting, an incredible trip to Disney, and the beginning of soccer, we have been running like crazy. It has been a good fall so far, and I am looking forward to all of the exciting things to come. Just wanted to update you one the boys;

Jackson
* is taking karate, piano, art, and Spanish this fall. He loves all of them, and both his Spanish and piano teacher have said that he is picking up their respective subjects very quickly.

* is having a great time playing soccer. He plays three days a week, two of those games. What makes it even better is that his friends Spencer is on his team this year.

* has been a reading fool lately. His class has a reading challenge each month in which they each are supposed to read 25 books each month. If they do, they get to wear something crazy to school (like a crazy hat tomorrow). He has been reading his 25 books very quickly, and most of them by himself, out loud, to us. I love listening to him read!

* loves having me work at his school. He gets so excited to see me there, and he is always runningup to me with big hugs and kisses. I know it won't be long until he is no longer proud to see his mom at school, so I will take every second of this excitement!!

Harris:

*is taking karate at school. He has been patiently watching Jackson at karate for over a year now, so it is now his turn... he loves it and loves that his friends are there with him.

* is in love with his teacher, Miss Courtney. He told me that she is his best friend and that she is coming over to spend the night in his tent with him!

* is learning the alphabet and items that start with each letter. His favorite has been "Candy starts with the letter C", of course!

* loves riding his bike. I love love love watching him ride, little legs just pedaling as fas as possible, sweet little head covered in his Thomas helmet... it is way too cute.

I am working on blogging Disney, but it has been so hard to narrow down pictures! It is coming...

Soon...

Sun Fun

Just wanted to share a few photos from another fun beach/boat day we had last weekend.
These days have been some of my most favorite days of this summer. The boat, the water, the friends, and the family...
what could be better???

First Day of School 2008

Wednesday was the big first day of school for the family. Both boys were super-excited to head back to one of their most favorite places on earth.
Jackson started kindergarten with teachers Miss Sarah and Miss Maggie. I know lots of moms choke up at the idea of their little ones starting kindergarten, and if we weren't still at Little School, where he has been since he was 20 months old, I probably would be choked up, too. However, he is still going half-days instead of full, he is in an extremely nurturing, small school and class, and his class is the oldest at the school... it's not like starting kindergarten at a public school. Next year at this time, I will be falling apart.

He loves his class and his teachers, and they are really trying to challenge him. The class has a fun reading challenge... read 25 books in a month and they get to wear crazy clothes to school. My twist on this is that he has to read some or all of the book to me in order to qualify for the challenge. So far so good, and he is loving writing all of the completed titles on his list!
Harris-Bug has started 3K with Miss Courtney and Miss Ann Harris. Courtney babysat for us last year, so Harris was thrilled to have her as a teacher. Miss Ann Harris taught Jackson when he was in 3K, and they had a very special bond... both of us are excited that she will be teaching Harris as well!

Harris has started off well, resuming his job as Cubby Dictator. He is sure to show all of his classmates where their cubbys are and to help them put their things in their cubbys. Cracks me up that he is so OCD about it! He has been using his manners, thanking the snack helper for doing such a great job, and he is looking forward to his alphabet show-and-tell. I had my first day of school Wednesday as well... I have started working at Little School three mornings a week, doing office work, substituting, and helping out wherever help is needed. I love the boys' school, and I love being a part of it. I am able to peek in on them often, and I get to be with them without having to be "in charge". Harris was a bit skeptical the first day ("Mommy, you are not going to work at my school... you stay home!!" and "Why are you here?" when he spotted me on the playground), but I think he will get over it in time and love the fact that I am there.

So far, the 2008-2009 school year has started out well, and all three of us are looking forward to all it has in store for us!
