Little School Pumpkin Patch Trip

The Little School had their annual trip to the Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch a couple of weeks ago, and I just realized I hadn't posted about it! I chaperoned Harris' class, but I got to see lots of Jackson, too. The little ones got to go on a haunted hayride, play in the maze and amidst the pumpkins, and pick out their very on pumpkins.

This is Harris with one of his girlfriends, Davis. He is constantly talking about Davis, so it was fun to watch them play together.
This is his buddy, Wilson... Harris loved watching and copying everything Wilson did.

Lobster Time

Lobster Party!!!

Why: We are supporting the Little School at Grace Church, Jackson & Harris' beloved school. All proceeds from the lobsters sold go directly to the school's computer fund.

How: Fresh, live Maine lobsters can be purchased for $14.00 each through the Ayers or the Lancasters by Friday, October 26th. We will pick up your lobsters and cook them for you at the party... super-yummy!

Please bring friends!!

Both Jackson and Harris were a little under the weather this weekend, but we were also fighting a bit of cabin fever. Jason was out of town, so I loaded the boys up and drug them to the Farmer's Market.

It was a beautiful day, and while it wasn't a super-exciting trip, I did get some great pictures that I wanted to share.

New York Boat Trip

I have to admit, I have been putting off posting about my most recent boat trip with Dad. Not because I didn't have an incredible time, but more because I haven't been able to find the right words to sum it all up. It was an amazing time, and for some reason, it has affected me (in a good way!) more than I expected. So, while I am going to try my best, I am going to suggest you read Caroline's blog along with mine. As of this minute, I haven't read her account of the trip, not wanting it to change what I post. I am also going to go heavy on the pictures, as I think they will definitely be worth more than my words!

Schenectady, NY to Coeymans, NY

Caroline and I left Charleston and arrived in Albany, NY on Wednesday evening. After a short ride into Schenctady, we arrived at the Schenectady Yacht Club to meet Dad. After settling in and a walk along the docks, he grilled us some yummy dinner... steaks and chicken.

It was a beautful morning once the fog cleared... sunny, warm, and perfect for a boat ride.

This was Progress Adventure #5 for Dad and me, and each and every one has been different. I was so excited to see what this adventure had in store for us.

Caroline took the controls for a brief moment... she didn't want to miss a bit of what was going on around her!

We were far enough north that the leaves had definitely started to change colors.

Dad had saved for us a series of locks on the Erie Canal called the Waterford Flight. There are about seven locks all right in a row. I think Caroline was really excited to try the whole lock experience, and I think Dad and I were even more excited to show her how it is done! Above is the dam on the other side of the lock.

There were several boats that traveled through the Flight with us. The locks actually seemed a little crowded!

Sometimes the wait for the lock to open gets a little boring...

After making it through all of the locks, turning into the Hudson River, and passing Troy and Albany, we arrived at Coeymans, NY. After an interesting run/walk, we headed for an early dinner and an early bedtime... the next day was to be another big one.

I'm posting a few pictures of some of the homes we saw along the way, but really, the pictures don't do them justice. We really only got to see them from a distance, and most of them were hidden by trees, but they were still so impressive.
