Where's Harris?

It's that time of year again when Papa takes his "waterhouse" north for the summer, and Harris and I were lucky enough to jump on for the first leg. Jackson had achievement testing at school and wasn't able to make it, so I just took Harris away for some Quality Mama Time.

The first day took us offshore to Bald Head Island, NC. This has always been one of my favorite stops, and I think is one of Harris' too. We rented a golf cart to explore the island (there are no cars allowed on the island), and one of our first stops was Old Baldy. We were just a few minutes too late to be able to climb to the top, but I think Harris was content just to see it from the outside and to take pictures.
It was a bit foggy and overcast as we left Bald Head and made our way up the ICW.
A freighter coming up the channel.
We saw many interesting things in this stretch of the ICW, including this strange piece of art.
All of the red channel markers had an osprey sitting on a nest.
It was a long and exciting two days for Harris, and when we got to Swansboro, NC, he was out for almost two hours.
We left Swansboro the next day, heading for Beaufort, NC. It was a short trip, delayed by a good bit of fog and wind, but it was beautiful once the fog lifted.
Leaving Swansboro...
Fishing boats in Swansboro
Passing the State Port in Morehead City, NC

We had a great time in Beaufort, checking out the shops, eating at one of my favorite restaurants, and just enjoying the boat and Papa. It was great QT with my little one... he was so well-behaved and so excited about each town we visited and explored. I loved seeing his love of traveling match mine and Papa's, and I look forward to many more trips and adventures with him. Maybe next time my other two boys can come with us!

Thanks, Papa, for everything... it was the perfect trip, and I am looking forward to doing it again in a week!!
